Born in Gaza, he holds a degree in English Language and Literature. After spending some time in Italy, where he holds residency, he began his journalism career in 2000 with the Italian-language news agency ANSA. He has worked as a producer from Palestine and Gaza with and for major international media outlets, including Australia's ABC, Canada’s CBC, the UK’s BBC, Italy’s RAI, and newspapers such as The New York Times and The Guardian. He has also collaborated with and written for Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, and La Stampa.

In 2010, he started working as a producer and later became a staff journalist for Al Jazeera in Gaza. For Al Jazeera, he has covered the last five Israel-Gaza wars, including the latest conflict, which began on October 7. He remained in Gaza until April 2024, when he fled with his wife and seven children.

He now lives in Italy and is awaiting political asylum.
