Pina Picierno

Pina Picierno was born in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, in the province of Caserta, on 10 May 1981. In the national Italian elections in 2008 and 2013 she was elected to the Chamber of Deputies for the Partito Democratico, focusing on issues of culture, justice and legality, both in parliamentary committees and in the political party at national level. A Member of the European Parliament since 2014, over the years she has served on the committees for Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM), Foreign Affairs (AFET), Agriculture (AGRI), Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE), as well as on the delegations for relations with Israel (D-IL) and for the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee (D-UA). In January 2022, she was elected Vice-President of the European Parliament with 527 votes, receiving, among other responsibilities, the mandates for Communication and relations with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean — a position she was re-elected to in July 2024.
