She has distinguished herself for her coverage of major international events, with a particular focus on conflicts and humanitarian crises. Since 2022, she has been closely following the war in Ukraine, documenting the Russian invasion and its consequences on the ground. In September 2024, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs issued an arrest warrant against Battistini, accusing her of illegally entering Russia during a report in the Kursk region. For her work, she was awarded the Order of Princess Olga by the Presidency of the Republic of Ukraine.
In 2023, she published An Unjust War. Stories and Images from Ukraine Under Bombs (Piemme), a book that gathers testimonies and reports from the frontlines of the conflict.
