Pasquale Quaranta

Pasquale Quaranta, journalist and civil rights activist, is Italy's first Diversity Editor. He inaugurated this role at the daily newspaper La Stampa and later expanded it to the entire Gedi Group, with the aim of providing unbiased information and raising awareness in newsrooms about adopting inclusive language.

Since 2013, he has worked in the digital division of the former Espresso Group, particularly for La Stampa and La Repubblica. He teaches "Diversity Journalism" in the Master’s program in Journalism at the University of Turin and conducts Diversity courses accredited by the Italian Order of Journalists. He holds a PhD in Comparative Studies from the University of Tor Vergata, with research interests ranging from the representation of marginalized communities in the media to the relationship between the Catholic Church and homosexuality (in 2008, he edited the book Omosessualità e Vangelo for Gabrielli Editori).

He has served as a national board member of Arcigay and as spokesperson for Salerno Pride 2005.
