Mostafa Khosravi

journalist and fact-checker

Mostafa Khosravi, an expert in investigative journalism and fact-checking, is based in Italy and works as an analyst for prominent Persian-language media outlets, including BBC Persian and Iran International.

His commitment to human rights began with organizations such as the Center for Human Rights in Iran, Arseh Sevom in Amsterdam, and the Canadian ASL19. He contributes as a member of editorial groups to civil society projects, with a particular focus on monitoring power dynamics in Iran.

He studied materials engineering at the University of Science and Technology in Tehran, where he led the first student newspaper, Arman (Ideale). He was arrested in 2003, detained for 58 days, and interrogated by agents of the Islamic Republic's Ministry of Intelligence. He spent almost a month in solitary confinement in Ward 209 of Evin Prison, reserved for political prisoners.

Expelled from the University of Tehran in 2006 for his political activities, he became a member of Iran's Alumni Organization in 2007. In 2009, after the contested re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as president, he faced additional interrogations, prompting him to leave Iran.
