Francesca Volpi , born in 1985 in Brescia, is a freelance photographer who through personal stories documents the humanitarian consequences of conflicts, while exploring the impacts of warfare, socio-economic disparities and climate change on people's lives.
She worked in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in Egypt during the deposition of President Morsi in 2013, then in Ukraine, Mexico, Honduras and Lebanon. Francesca has collaborated continuously with the Wall Street Journal for which she has extensively covered the Covid-19 pandemic in northern Italy, Bloomberg News, Washington Post, CNN, The New York Times, L' Espresso, The Guardian and various important international NGOs.
Francesca is a member of the Women Photograph Organization, which works to change the gender makeup of the photojournalism community by aiming for greater inclusion of women to ensure that the industry's key storytellers are as diverse as the communities they hope to be representing.
