Lucy Kueng

Lucy Kueng is a leading expert on media strategy and leadership. Her work focuses on how established media organizations adapt to rapid structural change driven by platforms, creators, and generative AI. She is Senior Visiting Research Associate at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford. She serves as a Non-Executive Board Member of NZZ Media Group and as a member of the Future Insight Board of Mediahuis. She is a Jury Member of the Media Forward Fund and a member of the Kuratorium of the Bonn Institute.

She is a former board member of the Swiss public broadcaster SRG SSR and of media technology company Vizrt. Lucy advises media companies worldwide on strategy, innovation, and transformation. Her current focus is the creator economy and generative AI, and what their rise means for journalism, media business models, and leadership. Her forthcoming book, Creator Shift, examines how classic media organizations can engage with creator-led growth in a disciplined and sustainable way.

She has held professorships at the University of Oslo, the Institute for Media and Entertainment in New York, and Jönköping International Business School. She is a frequent keynote speaker and the author of several influential books on media strategy and management. Lucy holds a PhD and Habilitation from the University of St Gallen and an MBA from City University Business School and Ashridge. She has received an Honorary PhD from the University of Neuchâtel and the European Media Management Award for Excellence in Media Management Scholarship and Practice.
