Lorenzo Tondo (Sciacca, 1982) is a journalist and correspondent for "The Guardian," covering Southern Europe and issues related to the migration crisis. For the English newspaper, he has been following the war in Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion. In the past, he has collaborated with "The New York Times" and "Time." From 2010 to 2015, he worked in the editorial staff of "La Repubblica" in Palermo, where he received numerous awards for his investigations. In 2015, he won the Giuseppe Fava Giovani National Journalism Award, and in 2016, the Maria Grazia Cutuli International Award as an emerging Sicilian journalist. Among his books are "Il Generale" (2018), published by Nave di Teseo, an investigation into the odyssey of a young Eritrean refugee mistakenly identified as a human trafficker, "Understanding the Balkan Route" (BEE, 2022), and in January 2024, a book featuring images by the award-winning photojournalist Alessio Mamo, titled "This is War: Diary from Ukraine" (Contrasto).
