Jane Spencer is a digital media executive and journalist with experience leading newsrooms and driving growth at companies including The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Beast and Fusion Media. As deputy editor and head of strategy for The Guardian’s US edition, she oversees newsroom innovation, special projects, reader revenue and audience growth. Before joining the Guardian in 2016, Jane helped launch several journalism startups. She was editor-in-chief and senior vice president at Fusion Media Group, executive editor of The Daily Beast, and an editorial advisor at The Marshall Project. Previously, she was a reporter and foreign correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, and was part of a team that won the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting in 2007 for coverage of China’s health and environmental problems. She was awarded a 2013 Nieman Fellow at Harvard University.
