Gian Marco Duina

activist and founder Hopeball

Gian Marco Duina has been cultivating his passion for sports since childhood, particularly through cross-country skiing, combining sacrifice and dedication.

In 2016, following an injury, he traveled to Africa and founded the Hopeball project, using soccer as an educational and empowering tool for youth with fewer opportunities.

He established several soccer teams in Zambia, Kenya, and Tanzania, where he lived for over a year. He serves on the board of a soccer team in Benin, collaborates with a soccer academy in Guinea, and worked as a trainer for the Nigerian Football Federation. In Palestine, he contributed to a project for developing soccer in the Gaza Strip.

He is a member of the board of FARE Network, the European body against discrimination in soccer.

In Milan, he is among the founding members of FC Sant’Ambroeus, the first soccer team composed of migrants to debut in the FIGC (Italian Football Federation) in Milan.

Duina works as a sports educator at ASD Altropallone, where he is also the vice president. In 2020, he published the essay "Calcio e migrazioni. Un fenomeno mondiale" (Soccer and Migrations: A Global Phenomenon) for BePress.
