Vera Penêda is Director of Programmes and Impact at the European Journalism Centre, where she leads initiatives that support independent journalism and foster informed public debate on issues like climate, health, and sustainable development. With over 15 years of experience across Europe, Latin America, and Asia, she has designed and managed cross-border training, grant, and fellowship programmes reaching journalists in more than 50 countries.
Her work focuses on newsroom innovation and building bridges between journalism and other fields - from science and policy to the arts and civic communication. Earlier in her career, she worked as a correspondent, reporter, and multimedia editor.
