Maurizio Beretta is the director of Identity & Communications worldwide of the UniCredit Group.
He began his career as a journalist, working from 1980 to 2001 in RAI, the Italian public service broadcaster, where he rose to the position of director of RAI 1. He left RAI in 2001 to join FIAT as director of external relations and communications. From 2004 to 2009 he was director-general of Confindustria, the confederation of Italian business. He also taught courses for a number of years on institutional relations and the social responsibilty of companies at the University La Sapienza of Rome. He has served since 2009 as president of the Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A, the association of football clubs in the Italian top division, which organises the main football competitions in Italy.
