Luke O’Brien is an investigative reporter and narrative writer who has contributed to The Atlantic, Fortune, Fast Company, Rolling Stone, Town & Country, Washington Post Magazine, Details, New York Times, Newsweek, Slate, Wired News. For the past few years he has been researching the 6 January 2021 insurrection in Washington, the Stop the Steal disinformation campaign and mass manipulation of social media platforms by domestic and foreign bad actors to incite violence. Attached to The Technology and Social Change Project (TaSC) at the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy, University of Harvard, Luke has focused on gathering and analyzing digital evidence of coordination among domestic actors for the 6 January Capitol riots. He has also tracked and reported on the ties between Steve Bannon and far-right leaders in other countries, including Italy and in Europe.
