Lorenzo Colantoni is a freelance journalist specialised in energy and the environment, international affairs, EU and UK policies. He is co-author with Riccardo Venturi of Italians and the UK, a book and web documentary produced in association with National Geographic and sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has been awarded the Premio Tutino Giornalista by the Italian Archivio Diaristico Nazionale for this project. He also supported the coordination for the 2014 October issue of Limes, the leading Italian review of geopolitics, which was entirely dedicated to Scotland and the UK.
He has worked for several Italian and international magazines, such as the National Geographic, the European Energy Review, the Energy Post, the news agency AGI, L’Espresso and Affari Internazionali. He has written on international geopolitics, regional independence movements in Europe and in the world, environmental and energy policies and core issues, such as the South China Sea island building, the destiny of the Arctic, climate change adaptation and the new EU Energy Union.
Lorenzo Colantoni also works as researcher at the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) in Rome, with previous experiences at DG Development and Cooperation (DEVCO) of the European Commission and at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), the leading think tank in Brussels, on several projects on renewable energies, energy efficiency and international environmental agreements.
