Kevin Bleyer

speechwriter Barack Obama

In the seven years (2005-2012) as a writer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Kevin Bleyer won four Primetime Emmys and a Writers Guild Award. Since 2008, he has contributed to many of President Barack Obama’s funnier speeches, including the president’s addresses to the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. Prior to his tenure at The Daily Show, Bleyer was a writer and producer for Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher and Dennis Miller, and the executive producer of pilots for Showtime and Comedy Central. In 2012, his book Me the People: One Man's Selfless Quest to Rewrite the Constitution of the United States of America—“Think of it as 50 Shades of Red, White and Blue,” says Jon Stewart—quickly became the #1 political humour book on Amazon.com. Earlier this year, as research for his next book, Bleyer was part of a small humanitarian delegation to North Korea that included former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and Executive Chairman of Google Eric Schmidt. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
