Eleonora Vio is a freelance journalist who deals with radicalism and extremism, social issues and stories of women. She lived and worked in several countries of the Middle East and North Africa (such as Palestinian Territories, Israel, Egypt, Turkey, Iran and Iraq) for eight years and, in this period, she co-founded the platform and the namesake association Nawart Press, with which she realized a multimedia project Lungo la Via della Seta. She has also made a documentary and numerous reports on radical right extremism in Europe. She also covered the Rohingya humanitarian crisis in Bangladesh and explored the world of female miners in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Her work has appeared in many Italian media, including Sky TG24, Il Venerdì di Repubblica, D di Repubblica, Panorama, Internazionale, Wired, and also in international media (like Geographical UK, Sept.info, Profil, Annabelle, Aljazeera, Woz Wochenzeitung, World Politics Review, TRT World). Her latest project on women in mining in the Congo won the 11th round of the Innovation in Development Grant offered by the European Journalism Center.
