Edwy Plenel is the editor-in-chief of Mediapart, a web-based subscription journal which he co-founded in 2008. He worked previously for Le Monde from 1980 to 2005, rising to the position of editor. Known for his journalistic investigations into the shadowy areas of French public life, Plenel is the author of more than twenty books, including Combat pour une presse libre (2009) and Le droit de savoir (2013).
