Michelin-starred Italian chef Cristina Bowerman, who is originally from Puglia, runs a range of innovative restaurants and catering services in Rome. Chef Bowerman also supports IFAD's Recipes for Change campaign. After living in the US for many years she returned to Italy in 2005. Since then she has received many prestigious awards; among the most recent she was appointed Chef Ambassador at Expo Milano in 2015, she starred in the biggest ACTION AID campaign ever and she supports Fiorano For Kids, an annual event to raise funds for research on the therapeutic role of specific diets in the treatment of epilepsy in children. Since 2016 she has been on the board of the Italian governments Food Act Committee which liaises between the culinary world and government. Last year she became Ambassador for the Association of Telefono Rosa, was awarded the prize of Best Female Italian Chef in Europe 2018 by Love Italian Life Awards, and in the same month she was awarded by FoodCommunity the Female Chef of the Year prize.
