Chikita Edrini Marpaung

Chikita Edrini Marpaung is a public interest lawyer and legal researcher at the Lembaga Bantuan Hukum Pers – Defending Freedom of Expression, where she focuses on defending freedom of expression and addressing violence and attacks against journalists in Indonesia. She has also worked with other human rights organizations, including the Indonesian Legal Aid Organization (PBHI) and Jakarta Legal Aid (LBH Jakarta), leading advocacy efforts on access to justice, human rights protection, and press freedom.

Her work includes litigating wrongful convictions, defending marginalized communities, and advocating for legal reforms. She was an Oxfam Youth Leader Fellow (2023-2024) and has represented Indonesia in international forums such as the PyeongChang Peace Forum and the World Social Forum in Nepal. She holds a Master’s degree in Non-Governmental Organization Studies from Chonnam National University, South Korea.
