Caroline Southey is currently the Editor of The Conversation Africa, which forms part of an international network with sister sites in Indonesia, Australia, the UK, the US, France, Spain and Canada. Her previous roles included speechwriter to the CEO of Barclays Africa, director for Community Banking at Standard Bank, and author of two chapters of the South African National Development Plan. Prior to that she was editor of the Financial Mail, the first woman to edit a financial title in South Africa. She has also worked for the Financial Times in London and Brussels in various roles over 17 years including as World Desk Editor and as a foreign correspondent covering European Union agriculture and social policy.
