Alastair Gee is the co-author of Fire in Paradise: An American Tragedy (W.W. Norton, 2020), a book about the most devastating US wildfire in a century. He is also special series editor at the Guardian in New York and oversees the Guardian US philanthropically-funded projects.
Previously he lived and reported in Moscow and San Francisco, writing for The Guardian, The Economist, The New Yorker online and other publications. At The Guardian he was also the nation's first homelessness editor, and was part of a team that won recognition including the Online Journalism Awards investigative data journalism prize for a feature on America's homeless bussing programs.
