Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy is editor-in-chief of Belsat TV, based in Warsaw, Poland. She initiated and developed the idea behind the creation of Belsat TV – the first independent television channel in Belarus – which began broadcasting in 2007 and which she now runs. She is considered one of the top media experts of the Russian-language media space in Eastern Europe. She is also initiating and mentoring innovative projects in Belarus and Ukraine.
During her studies at the Warsaw University History Department she helped to set up the Independent Students’ Association (NZS) and was a member of its national board. Between 1987 and 1990, she was a PhD student at Yale University. In 1991, she began working at the daily newspaper, Zycie Warszawy. In 1992, she started her career at Polish Public Television (TVP), where she held many roles before serving as director from 2007 to 2009. As a correspondent she covered many of the most dangerous conflicts in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. From 2011 to 2016 she was the vice president of the Polish Journalists Association (SDP). She was also a member (from 2013 to 2016) of the Steering Committee of the European Federation of Journalists.
