beabee is a collaborative open source and privacy-first software and community project. We want to bring organisations together who share our mission to empower more people across Europe to start and run local, independent, community-driven and membership-financed newsrooms in order to bring more diversity to our local information ecosystems.
The need for a step-change in audience engagement and revenue has become even more evident throughout the pandemic as advertising revenues plunged further. The beabee team wants to unleash the potential of community entrepreneurs across Europe to fill this void with trusted information created with and by communities.
Speakers from the project partners CORRECTIV, TBIJ and The Bristol Cable will discuss how independent community media can reshape our media ecosystem, why they teamed up to build the software beabee and how independent newsrooms and supporters can come on board now.
