Open source investigation has proven to be a powerful new approach for investigative reporting and human rights documentation. In this session, leading open source investigators will discuss the ethical framework for their work - what guides and standards exist, what principles need to be documented, where do open source investigation ethics intersect with traditional journalistic ethics, what challenges have been encountered and how have they been overcome. We'll address important issues such as privacy, ownership, consent, security, source protection, and archiving.
