Communities around the world need access to credible, fact-based reporting in order to address critical issues facing their societies. Many newsrooms are helping improve outcomes and quality of life for the communities they serve, but traditional metrics often fail to capture this kind of impact. The Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR) and The Guardian are two newsrooms at the forefront of impact tracking and measurement. At this session, you’ll learn about the Impact Tracker tool and framework that CIR developed to document and learn from the outcomes resulting from our work, both to help inform our strategic plans and to communicate the value of our work to audiences and supporters. The tool is open-source; you’ll learn how to use it in your newsroom, and better understand the ways that it can complement other measurement and impact tools deployed in commercial and large-scale news operations.

Organised in association with the Center for Investigative Reporting.
