Cassandra Garrison is the Social Media & Live News Editor for Reuters, based in NYC. She is responsible for curating breaking news, photographs and video for the millions of people around the world who follow Reuters on Facebook, Twitter and other platforms. Since joining Reuters in April of 2014, she has focused on improving and growing the organization’s overall social media strategy by working directly with its journalists across the globe on speed, reach and delivery of content. She also edits live coverage of news events on Reuters.com including the downing of Flight MH17, the Scottish referendum and the events that unfolded in Ferguson, Missouri.

Cassandra was previously Digital Managing Editor for Metro U.S. where she oversaw all online content and social media initiatives. Before moving into editorial management at Metro, she cut her teeth as a reporter covering events like Occupy Wall Street, the 2012 London Olympics and Hurricane Sandy. Cassandra began her career in television at WJET/WFXP in Erie, PA. as a reporter, and later as an anchor of the market's top-rated morning news program.

Cassandra is a graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, where she was the recipient of the John R. Wilhelm Foreign Correspondence Scholarship. She has completed two NYC Marathons (though not very quickly) and loves to travel, cook and explore her neighborhood, Brooklyn Heights.
