Miriam Wells is impact editor at The Examination, a global investigative public health newsroom, where she leads a strategy to maximise the real world change sparked by the journalism. She pioneered the role of impact editor at her former workplace, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism in the UK. Miriam will be in discussion with Richard Addy, co-founder and director of AKAS, who designed the impact measurement approach used by news organisations including the Guardian and NPR. Together they will discuss Miriam’s journey to becoming an impact editor and the lessons she has learned along the way. They will also explore the steps news organisations can take to create an impact culture, strategy and roles, how to track and measure impact and ultimately how to make their journalism a greater force for good in the world.
