Some editors and outlets have turned to “solutions journalism” as a way to deliver upbeat stories on climate change. These stories illustrate the ways people are trying to solve environmental challenges and mitigate the effects of climate change. Many of these stories give people a sense of agency rather than framing the climate challenge as a hopeless cause. Done poorly, however, solutions stories can be misleading, misguided or vehicles for greenwashing. How can we avoid these storytelling pitfalls? In this panel discussion, we discuss tips and best practices for tackling so-called solutions stories.
