We hear a lot about how we can improve tweeting, the best time to tweet and how to use hashtags. This panel will look more closely at areas not typically addressed in articles and on panels.
Stories in the data --- From "women and equality" to "two weeks of #Sochi2014 in 60 seconds". Simon Rogers, Twitter's data editor, is interested in how Twitter's data can be used to tell stories especially during real-time events.
Distribution patterns --- "Twitter has evolved into the role of a serious newswire with reports of credible news appearing on it before anywhere else on the web," says Sudha Ram, who has studied propagation patterns of news articles from popular news sources, including BBC, Reuters, The New York Times and Wired. Her study has implications for real-time performance comparisons of news agencies on social media as well as decision-making regarding dynamic pricing, promotion, advertising and news recommendations.
Listening to the conversations - Torsten Mueller is one of the founders of Tame, a "context search engine" which delivers at a glance the most relevant links, topics and people from Twitter to help you cope with the information overload. He will help us understand conversations on Twitter much better.
Network intelligence - If you know more about who engages with your Tweets and how Tweets travel among your audience you can learn a lot about how to distribute news more efficiently. Steffen Konrath will show how the Liquid Newsroom uses the social network graph to understand how news and information markets work.
