Public office for personal enrichment?
The 1992 so-called Mani pulite judicial investigation into political corruption dramatically swept out of office much of the Italian political establishment. What has changed in the intervening 20 years? Has the widespread influence-peddling and use of public office for personal enrichment so clearly revealed in the 1992 investigations gone for good too? The panel will take as its starting point the book Mani pulite: la vera storia, 20 anni dopo (2012) by Gianni Barbacetto, Peter Gomez and Marco Travaglio.
