Forgotten L’Aquila
On 06 April 2009 an earthquake destroyed much of the Italian town of L’Aquila. Thousands were injured, 309 people died. The beautiful historic centre is still a ghost town, closed to all and barricaded off, the buildings covered in scaffolding, the former inhabitants living elsewhere in temporary accommodation. Reconstruction work has hardly begun. Why?
