The European Journalism Centre (EJC) is inviting journalists and press organisations to apply for media grants to innovate the storytelling of global development issues. The programme calls all journalists and creative minds to break the old stereotypes and narratives around global development topics and reinvent development journalism.
A selection of state-of-the-art reporting projects of great impact and high visibility will be awarded funding, starting at a minimum of €8,000. The programme will launch three rounds of open calls for proposals in 2013 and give away a total of 25 to 30 grants. The average grant given is expected to be about €20,000. Applications can be submitted online. The deadline for the first round is 25 March 2013.
Applications are accepted via the Innovation for Development Reporting Grant Programme (IDR), launched in 2013 by the EJC with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The project aims to reward quality journalism and advance a new and distinctive agenda for development coverage.
