On 06 June 2013 The Guardian and The Washington Post published leaked classified documents which revealed the existence of a secret electronic surveillance program named PRISM run by the National Security Agency which reportedly allows the US government to tap directly into the servers of major Internet companies, including Microsoft, Yahoo, AOL and Google.
