On its final day, the International Journalism Festival starts by inaugurating a session dedicated to start-ups in digital journalism. The name is Future12, and the concept is that each of the 12 ideas has a 12 minutes presentation, followed by 15 minutes Q&A sessions after every 3 presentations. The 4-hour event (10 am, Hotel Brufani) is hosted by Luca Conti and Johanna Vehkoo. In the meantime, panel discussions address transnational investigative journalism (10 am, Centro Servizi G. Alessi) – by telling three stories that show how cross-border investigations done by international teams of journalists can expose corruption and crime- and cases of journalists who became political spokesmen (10 am, Sala Lippi). The morning is completed by two workshops, the first one by masternewmedia.orf founder Robin Good on information design and the data-ink ratio (10.30, Hotel Brufani), and the second one on reinventing the business of news and entrepreneurial journalism by multimedia produce Adam Westbrook (11.30 am, Hotel Sangallo). And by an important panel (11.30 am, Sala dei Notari), organized together with the European Commission and Associazioni Giornalisti Scuola di Perugia, on the difficult relationship between sovra-national and national political bodies in Europe featuring the current Ministry of European Affairs, Enzo Moavero Milanesi. As the School of Data Journalism has its last workshop (2 pm, Hotel Sangallo), be sure not to miss Pulitzer Prize winner Sarah Duke promoting news and computer literacy (4.30 pm, Hotel Brufani) before packing.
