The Hacker’s Corner Workshop #4 – Hacking Level 4: Be Smart (Image forensics).

How to “clean” images before uploading them online. Investigate images in order to identify datas related to the author. Location-based data analysis. The journalist and digital photos: the image files, headers and array of data. The journalist who produces a picture: analysis of the header and EXIF metadata, what they are, which information contain (date, gps, info on the capture device, info on software used), how can you edit / delete. Analysis of array data and information that can be extracted from the pixels (noise left by the sensors, color interpolation, compression, JPEG), how can you edit/delete. The journalist who uses a picture: analysis of the credibility of an image.
