Stories on Umbria International Journalism Award 2025

Submissions are now open for the 15th edition of the Stories on Umbria International Journalism Award.

The competition, organised by the Umbria Chamber of Commerce, is reserved to those articles dealing with the region’s artistic-cultural-environmental points of excellence and the high quality economic-productive system, bringing the national and international focus on Umbria and its territory and contributing to valorising the best of Umbrian business production.

Competition categories

Tourism, environment and culture – Prize €2,500.00 We accept photo-journalism articles published in daily or periodic national and international newspapers and magazines, including on-line ones, between 1st January 2024 and 8th February 2025, principally dealing with the tourist, landscape, environmental and cultural heritage of Umbria. The articles must be sent together with a digital copy of the daily or periodical publication in which they were published.

Umbria del Gusto – Prize €2,500.00 We accept photo-journalistic articles published in daily or periodic national and international newspapers and magazines, including on-line ones, between 1st January 2024 and 8th February 2025, principally dealing with the typical and high quality enogastronomic production of Umbria. The articles must be sent together with a digital copy of the daily or periodical publication in which they were published.

Videos (large productions) – Prize €2,500.00 We accept audio-visual reports dealing with Umbria, aired between 1st January 2024 and 8th February 2025 on national or satellite television. The audio-video reports must be accompanied by a synopsis in Italian or alternatively in English.

Videos (independent productions) – Prize €2,500.00 We accept audio-visual reports dealing with Umbria, aired between 1st January 2024 and 8th February 2025 on online channels (such as blogs, YouTube or similar platforms). The audio-video reports must be accompanied by a synopsis in Italian or alternatively in English.

Schools of Journalism Award – €1,000.00 The “Schools of Journalism” Award is dedicated exclusively to audio-video reports carried out by students of Italian Schools of Journalism recognised by the National Council of the Order of Journalists. Only audio-video reports aired between 1st January 2024 and 8th February 2025 on national or satellite television or internet channels will be admitted. The audio-video reports must be also accompanied by a synopsis.

Umbria High School Award – €1,000.00 The award is reserved for texts written in journalistic style, also accompanied by photos, created specifically for the competition by students attending the last three years of Umbria High Schools. The articles may deal with the topics of the Umbrian tourist, environmental and cultural heritage, or with the typical and quality food and wine production of Umbria. The prize will be paid to the school the students belong to.

Jury Prize – €2,500.00 The Committee may furthermore award the “Jury Prize” to one particularly worthy-candidate among the four main categories of the competition.

The winners will be invited by the Umbria Chamber of Commerce to participate in the prize-giving ceremony to be held in Perugia during the XIX edition of the International Journalism Festival (9-13 April 2025).
