Submissions are now open for the Stories on Umbria International Journalism Award 2022.
The competition, organised by the Umbria Chamber of Commerce, is reserved to those articles dealing with the region’s artistic-cultural-environmental points of excellence and the high quality typical economic-productive system, bringing the national and international focus on Umbria and its territory and contributing to valorising the best of Umbrian business production.
Deadline for entries: 4 February 2022.
Rules 2022
The award is divided into three separate sections:
Tourism, environment and culture – Prize €2,500.00 We accept photo-journalism articles published in daily or periodic national and international newspapers and magazines, including on-line ones, between 1 January 2021 and 31 January 2022 principally dealing with the tourist, landscape, environmental and cultural heritage of Umbria. The articles must be sent together with a copy of the daily or periodical publication in which they were published (alternatively, for applications made via email, a digital copy of the daily or periodical publication may be attached).
Umbria del Gusto – Prize €2,500.00 We accept photo-journalistic articles published in daily or periodic national and international newspapers and magazines, including on-line ones, between 1 January 2021 and 31 January 2022 principally dealing with the typical and high quality enogastronomic production of Umbria. The articles must be sent together with a copy of the daily or periodical publication in which they were published (alternatively, for applications made via email, a digital copy of the daily or periodical publication may be attached).
Videos – Prize €2,500.00 We accept audio-visual reports dealing with Umbria, aired between 1 January 2021 and 31 January 2022 on national or satellite television channels or on the internet. These reports must be accompanied by a synopsis in Italian or alternatively in English.
“Schools of Journalism” Award – €1,000.00 The Schools of Journalism Award has also been established, reserved for video reports made by students of Schools of Journalism in Italy recognised by the National Council of the Order of Journalists, aired between 1 January 2021 and 31 January 2022 on national or satellite television channels or on the internet.
Jury Prize – €2,500.00 The Committee as per point 9 below, whose decision is final and absolute, may furthermore award the “Jury Prize” to any candidate considered particularly worthy from among the three main categories of the competition.
Deadline All applications – articles or audio-visual reports – must be received, together with the duly completed and signed candidature form, by no later than 4 February 2022.
How to send applications Applications can be made via mail to: Camera di Commercio dell’Umbria, Via Cacciatori delle Alpi, 42 – 06121 Perugia – Italia – please clearly write on the envelope “Application for Raccontami l’Umbria – Stories on Umbria 2022”; or via email to raccontami@umbria.camcom.it. Please also include a brief CV of the author. Any article of video report that has not been signed will be attributed to the editor of the newspaper or channel that published/aired the piece in question.
All the winners will be invited by the Umbria Chamber of Commerce to participate in the prize-giving ceremony to be held in Perugia during the XVI edition of the International Journalism Festival (6-10 April 2022).
